Every year we take an entire day to bake cookies and try new recipes - with the exception of peanut butter cookies with chocolate stars in the middle per request of my uncle. This year we went with one kind of cookie per person and NO DOUBLE BATCHES. We learned our lesson last year when we cooked for 9+ hours.
The kids enjoyed frosting and sugar-ing the cut outs...
While our premixed batches made for lots of talk time when we were taking turns with the oven.
We attempted to avoid going into sugar-coma by supplying some healthy food choices for snacks and lunch including apples with fruit dip, pumpkin taco layered dip (wayyy better than it sounds), and soup.
However, a few cookies still crept their way into our mouths.
You have to have at least one of each to make sure they are okay to give away right? RIIIGHT!
Here's a photo of one table of loot...
Chocolate cookies with kisses
Oatmeal, chocolate chip, butterscotch
Peanut butter w/stars
Chex mix bags
Poppyseed something...(I wasn't a fan)
Loot table #2:
Cake Balls
Heath bar crunch bar
Sugar cookie w/crunched up puppy chow on top (TO DIE)
homemade caramels
Sugar cookie cutouts
Cake balls complete w/frosting and sprinkles...
Each of the 6 ladies got AT LEAST 3 paper plates full to take home then we divided other for grandpa, a birthday boy, work parties, etc.
It was a rocking good time and a great tradition that the kids love.
Do you have any holiday traditions that you just CAN'T MISS?
Do share I'd love to add to ours!
