Book Review: The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

After reading her other book it was only natural to hunt down this one and continue the life story of Jeannette Walls and her very dysfunctional family.  Its a book about that rebellious teen Mary from Half Broke Horses went and grew up and married the man her mother didn't want her to marry and set out to basically do everything she could to make her mother upset and run in every opposite direction from her upbringing as possible.

This book is amazing as far as the "adventures" the family went through and how one set of parents finds all of their triumphs and hardships normal and life lessons when you find out in the end it call could have been fine but was in fact their choice and not just sugar coating as you believe the parents are.  The book is riveting and about 50 pages in it started to feel familiar when I realized I had read it before but I had to keep going because I just couldn't remember if the version in my head was how it ended (it was).  Overall its a great book and gives you a new perspective on some poverty and homelessness that you may have never thought of before.  Its a great read and I think you should pick up a copy!

As usual, its affordable on Amazon.
